Forensic Toxicology

Forensic Toxicology - Less Process More Profile

Over the last 30 years immunoassay drug detection has stood still with no technological advancements. Randox Toxicology has changed this through he development of smart solutions for forensic testing, including our multiplex Biochip Array Technology. Since its inception Randox has continued to develop the patented Biochip Array Technology so that it is adaptable to various forensic settings.

Multiplex Biochip Array Technology

Biochip Array Technology (BAT) is a multiplex immunoassay methodology developed by Randox which advances on ELISA methods for rapid and accurate drug detection. BAT provides simultaneous detection of multiple drug classes and drug metabolites from a single, undivided specimen. The core of the technology is the Randox biochip, a solid state device onto which antibodies specific to different drug compounds are immobilised and stabilised; these are defined as discrete test sites. Competitive chemiluminescent immunoassays are employed for the biochip arrays. Light signal generated from each of the test regions on the biochip is simultaneously detected using digital imaging technology and compared to that from a calibration curve.

Fast and accurate detection in  forensic specimens

Biochip Array Technology allows forensic toxicologists to carry out complete immunoassay screen on a wide range of drugs simultaneously. Randox offer an unrivalled toxicology test menu across six arrays. The technology enables the testing of multiple forensic matrices with dedicated kits, offering excellent specificity and the reduced risk of false results.

Efficient, effective and accurate drug profiling

Biochip Array technology requires less manual input by fundamentally consolidating and speeding up ELISA techniques. Furthermore, consolidation of all forensic matrices onto one Biochip Array Technology analyser provides an efficient, effective and accurate method of detecting for drugs; enabling forensic toxicology laboratories to not only reduce costs but to improve overall performance.

Comprehensive solutions

Randox Toxicology offer the complete package for drugs of abuse testing ranging from BAT, ELISA, antibodies and conjugates to testing platforms and quality control, as well as covering all key forensic matrices. We have also developed reagents for DoA and therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) for use on the RX series of analysers.

Our customers range from forensic and clinical toxicology laboratories to police, prisons, hospitals, universities, governmental laboratories, medical examiners, legal medicine institutes and drug rehabilitation clinics. Biochip Array Technology has been adopted in six continents across the globe, indicating it’s presence as a leading methodology for highly accurate forensic drug testing.
