Through the world’s most aggressive research and development, Randox Toxicology offer the highest quality ELISA kits for Carfentanil/Remifentanil. With results providing excellent correlation with confirmatory methods, our ELISA kits provide rapid detection of drugs and metabolites in various biological specimens.
Remifentanil is an opioid drug used to treat or prevent pain after a medical procedure. Typically injected into a vein, remifentanil is reported to be 40 times more potent than alfentanil. Remifentanil side effects include; blurred vision, nausea, chest pains, difficulty breathing, muscle tightness, impaired reactions, dizziness, and severe drowsiness.
Carfentanil was first synthesized in 1974 by a team of chemists at Janssen Pharmaceutica. Designed as a tranquilizer for large mammals, the dangerous substance is roughly 100 times more powerful than fentanyl and 10,000 times more potent than morphine. Carfentanil has since been classified as a Schedule II drug under the U.S. Controlled Substances Act. However, Carfentanil is readily available from vendors in China, where the drug is not a controlled substance, despite U.S. efforts to have it blacklisted.
New reports published indicate that law enforcement throughout America have seen an increase in carfentanil related overdoses. Carfentanil can come in a variety of forms such as, powder, tablets, blotter paper, and spray that can be absorbed through the skin or inhaled as an airborne substance. It is understood that drug users are not often aware that street heroin has been laced with the dangerous drug.
The side effects of carfentanil are extremely quick and similar to those of fentanyl. Signs of carfentanil exposure include; clammy skin, drowsiness, pinpoint pupils, respiratory depression, and sedation. Resistant to naloxone, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration has warned that carfentanil poses a threat for first responders and law enforcement, with a lethal dose not visible to the human eye.
